La Cupola di Antonioni
Antonioni's Dome is a photographic narrative that explores the architectural and poetic soul of the "Binishell" - the visionary concrete dome designed by architect Dante Bini in 1969 for filmmaker Michelangelo Antonioni and actress Monica Vitti. Perched on the rugged, untamed cliffs of Costa Paradiso in Sardinia, the structure appears as both an alien entity and a perfectly integrated element of the wild surrounding landscape.
Through an intimate and contemplative visual approach, the project focuses on the dialogue
between matter and light, form and void, interior and horizon. Escape routes, curved passages, and circular windows become sensitive thresholds through which the seascape is observed and the breath of the architecture is felt. Natural light enters as a narrative force, shaping volumes, revealing textures, and creating a suspended, almost cinematic atmosphere.
This photographic journey seeks empathy with the space - it does not simply document it, but listens to it, questions it, and gathers its silences. It is a tribute to Bini's radical vision and to the idea of architecture as a sensitive body, a refuge, and an imaginative machine.
The dome is not just a built object, but an immersive experience - a place suspended between nature, memory, and utopia.
